We have an opportunity available at our Disputanta, VA facility.

Standard Motor Products, Inc., (SMP) is a leading independent manufacturer, distributor and marketer of replacement parts for motor vehicles in the automotive aftermarket industry, with an increasing focus on the original equipment and original equipment service markets. Our stock is publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange (SMP) where it has been listed since 1977.  We are organized into two major operating segments, each of which focuses on a specific line of replacement parts. Our Engine Management Segment manufactures a full line of engine management related products. Our Temperature Control Segment manufactures and remanufactures a full line of replacement parts for automotive air conditioning and heating systems.  We distribute parts under our own brand names, such as Standard, BWD, Hayden and Four Seasons, and through private labels. SMP products are distributed primarily to warehouse distributors, large retail chains, national program distribution groups,

Manufacturing facilities are located in Florida, Indiana, South Carolina, and Texas and internationally in Canada, China, Mexico and Poland. Distribution Centers are located in Kansas, Virginia, and Texas. 

Work Terms Available: 

Fall 2020 (August - December)

Role and Responsibilities: 

  • Collect and gather data as it relates to sustainable availability of parts; using internet websites and OE dealer web portals
  • Assemble data packet to consolidate or discontinue part availability as required for action by Product Management Team in LIC, NY
  • Other Duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • 2nd or 3rd year student of Engineering or Business
  • 3.20 GPA or higher
  • Strong automotive / engineering background -brand and OE knowledge and interchange capabilities
  • Self-starter - ability to follow instructions once defined
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Detail oriented
  • MS office proficiency; word and excel
  • Programming experience is a plus

Strong verbal and written communication with ability to effectively interact with all levels within organization
