Job Description and Responsibilities: The Quality Inspector II is responsible for inspecting and measuring items according to specifications and examines/documents defects and inspection findings.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities              (other duties may be assigned)

  • Coordinate the inspections and measurement of items for dimensional accuracy, fit, alignment and functional operation, according to blueprints, parts manuals, company standards and other specifications, using precision measuring instruments and devices.  
  • Examines items for defects in materials and damage occurring in transit.  Personally conduct these inspections according to schedule.
  • Test samples including the visual inspections and test measurements.  
  • Coordinate with Lab for performance testing and report results.
  • Document and report inspection findings and results to suppliers, requesting CAR or other documentation needed for assessing corrective actions. 
  • Monitors corrective actions to inspection findings. 
  • Coordinate the return, replacement, and/or back charge for defective parts. 
  • Document part quality issues and maintain the quarantine lists with updates and final actions.
  • Maintain and update as needed the Forecast Quality Manual.
  • Insure documentation needed for inspections (drawings, specifications, certifications, etc.) are maintained.
  • Prioritize incoming inspection based on suspect vendors, failure rates, part types and historical data.
  • Create ECN’s related to BOM update.
  • Process product alerts, RGA’s, corrective action implementation, return/ field destroy authorizations, PPAP’s, Pre-dock audits for WIX, Balwin, Purolator ect.
  • Maintain control sample of private label customers such as IDI, MPI and DW.
  • Approve samples from Store Lifts to add to our inventory.
  • Coordinate replacement parts from supplier



Job Requirements


  • 2-5 years of experience or related education
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is required
  • Good verbal/written communication
  • Required Computer Skills: Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and ERP system
  • Quality Assurance (QA) knowledge for inspections and audits
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A self-starter who requires minimum supervision
  • Excellent organization, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Work well under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Professional manner in dealing with others coupled with a strong "hands-on” work ethic
  • Understands the importance of consistency and efficiency in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of digital photography
  • Knowledge of automotive engine management and their use are preferable
