Standard Motor Products, Inc. is looking for a uniquely qualified individual that has experience in both Light Duty/Medium Duty Truck and Automotive Parts Sales.

SMP is an automotive aftermarket company celebrating its 100th year anniversary in business. We are a tier one supplier and independent manufacturer, distributor, and marketer of replacement parts for domestic and import vehicles, and light to medium duty trucks. We are organized into two major operating segments supplying independent professional technicians and do-it-yourselfers replacements parts for engine management and temperature control products. SMP markets products throughout the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe and Asia through traditional as well as non-traditional channels. We distribute parts under our own brand names, such as Standard®, BWD®, Intermotor®, Hayden®, ACI®, Four Seasons®, and through private labels.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Under direct supervision of Sales Director of Key Accounts
  • Develop New Business with 2 & 3 Step Warehouse Distributors
  • Maintain and Grow Existing Business
  • Client Management Including:
    • Create growth focus Business Plans
    • Conduct Sales Meetings and manage customer special events
    •  Train on new & existing products
    • Communicate with all levels Client Management Team
    • Inventory Reviews with Client Management (Category Management)
    • Sell National Marketing Programs
    • Develop Push & Pull Promotional Strategies                               
  • Create growth through client’s customer base, Jobbers and Installers
    • Prospect (sell parts)       
    • Updating Jobber & Installers Inventory
    • Jobber Store Training
    • Co-ordinate on-site Technical Pro Training
    • Category specific TM training
    • National & local focused promotions
    • Recommend new product categories based on local data analysis
  • Provide timely reporting utilizing SMP licensed software (Certify, CRMez, MS Excel)       

Job Requirements

High school graduate (or equivalent). College degree preferred but not essential. Experience or appropriate knowledge in automotive technical/mechanical subjects, diesel a plus.  Neat, well-groomed appearance with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive automobile at all times. Ability to lift packages weighing 50 lbs. ability and willingness to incur overnight travel and fly as necessary.
