Job Description

Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP), a tier 1 manufacturer and distributor of products to the automotive aftermarket, is seeking a talented IT Business Analyst to participate in the design, development, implementation, and support of key business systems and applications. This includes but is not limited to ERP, MRP, WMS, EDI, and BI. The business analysis team works directly with business customers, both internal and external, to analyze critical business challenges and develop appropriate solutions. The IT Business Analyst is responsible for managing the entire software development life-cycle from discovery to realization for all assigned projects.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supports and maintains all corporate IT business systems including but not limited to ERP, MRP, WMS, and EDI.
  • Recommends technical solutions to functional business problems to effectively meet strategic business objectives.
  • Provides business knowledge and technical leadership to effectively collaborate with the developers and users.
  • Serves as the project manager and coordinates all IT resources for all business application development.
  • Composes and maintains projects plans, functional specifications, and technical specifications for all business application development lifecycle activities.
  • Conducts and manages all testing, training, and change management for all business application development.
  • Serves as a point of contact to internal customers for support on all business systems and applications.

Job Requirements

Requirements / Experience:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand business concepts and processes at the detail level.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to execute multiple project plans against strict deadlines.
  • Ability to use Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, Project, Visio).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing business processes, understanding business needs, and providing technical solutions to specific business challenges.
  • Working knowledge of all major business functional areas (Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales and Marketing).
  • 3 – 5 years working for a company in the manufacturing and distribution space.
  • Hands-on experience working with a tier 1 ERP system (Oracle, SAP, or JD Edwards). JD Edwards preferred.
  • Experience with structured query language (SQL) through query writing and/or ad hoc reporting.
  • Exposure to software change management practices.
  • Ability to conduct testing and training activities on business applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required. Specific work experience considered in lieu of a degree.
