Job Description

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Develop, engineer, and innovate new concepts in Distribution while meeting marketing requirements, functional requirements, cost targets, and manufacturing and distribution requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Continuous improvement efforts – Review existing packages, redesign, test, and implement packaging improvements with emphasis on cost optimization (direct or indirect).
  2. Ensure new products packaging designs combine appropriate marketing presentation and product protection.
  3. Work cross-functionally with the marketing, manufacturing and logistics departments to design and develop packaging solutions for both products and raw materials.
  4. Stay abreast in the latest trends in marketplace packaging and innovations and work with marketing to incorporate these trends where appropriate for our end-user.
  5. Provide technical input into the package design process to ensure that package is designed to meet operational requirements while ensuring desirable aesthetic elements.
  6. Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and improve packaging cost and performance.
  7. Develop standard work of packaging design – operating procedures, standardized practices, material specifications, and package testing methods.
  8. Stay current on new packaging materials, processes, and regulatory requirements.
  9. Ensure new product packaging designs are aligned to the packaging/distribution capabilities.
  10. Qualify new packaging suppliers and perform package testing and qualification.
  11. Develop and manage the process to establish and maintain the packaging related data with the ERP system to ensure that the packaging data is available and data integrity is ensured.

Job Requirements

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor or Master Degree in Industrial Engineering
  2. Ability to develop and work with blue prints.
  3. Must have working knowledge of drawing software (i.e. AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.
  4. Ability to use precision measuring gauges accurately.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively.
