About SMP:

We are a leading supplier of automotive parts and have been in business over 100 years and have received numerous supplier of the year awards from our customers over the years. Our 360k square foot distribution center, based in Edwardsville, Kansas, specializes in “Just in Time” distribution of replacement parts for the automotive industry. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as our Human Resources Supervisor at this facility. Attractive location in the greater Kansas City area.


The Human Resources Supervisor is responsible for the planning, organizing and administration of numerous operational human resources-related activities for the Kansas Distribution Center including:

  • Worker’s Compensation
  • Benefits Administration
  • Payroll processing
  • Onboarding
  • Wellness Program
  • HR policy guidance and interpretation
  • Administration of bid and related processes as defined by collective bargaining
  • agreement
  • Implementation of engagement survey action plans
  • Provide support to management with interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreement
  • Attendance, disability and leave administration

Job Requirements


  • 7+ year’s progressive HR experience PHR, SPHR certification preferred,

Degree in Human Resources or related field

  • Experience working in unionized facility preferred but not mandatory
  • Knowledge of all applicable state and federal employment laws
  • Experience in employee relations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Requires a high degree of discretion and judgment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with HRIS systems
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees
