Job Description

As a key member of our Demand Planning Department, you will manage and maintain accurate forecasts for our Engine Management Division, including forecast collaboration with major retail accounts.

  • Maintaining data integrity of assigned SKU’s item definition. This includes the review and maintenance of the demand history, adjusted demand values as well as reviewing and adjusting demand outliers to avoid over/under forecast problems.
  • Handling the daily review and adjustments of SKU based forecasts. As part of this function the planner must review demand history vs. the forecast to determine the fitness of the forecast based on seasonality, trends and current changes in demand patterns. Once these different variables have been reviewed the planner must then decide if or by how much to adjust the future forecasts. Note that accurate forecasts are critical to SMP’s operations groups in their planning of component purchases, labor hours, and inventory levels on the finished products.
  • Measuring and reporting forecast accuracy, with analysis required to improve forecasts. This analysis includes determining the causes of forecast inaccuracies as well as proposing solutions to those problems.
  • Acting as primary contact with assigned customer accounts. This includes incorporating the information learned from the customer into the forecast process to improve our forecast accuracy.
  • Handling other related duties as necessary
