Job Description

JOB PURPOSE: The Benefits Associate at Standard Motor Products is responsible for assisting the Senior Benefits Coordinator in the administration of all health and welfare plans for benefits eligible employees and their dependents across various locations.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES, DUTIES, TASKS:

  • Point of contact for employees & HR Managers to assist with all aspects of SMP’s employee benefits including resolving claim issues, benefits education, qualifying life events, etc.
  • Assists in the preparation of employee benefits communications including print, digital, web, and video
  • Responsible for the planning of the annual Health Fair
  • Assists the Senior Benefits Coordinator with annual Open Enrollment
  • Assists with special projects on various benefit issues as needed
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations as it relates to Health and Welfare Plans including the protection of employees’ PHI
  • Promptly responds to benefit requests with accuracy and a courteous demeanor
  • Assists in running reports in ADP
  • Responsible for mailings and campaigns ran for employee engagement
  • Assists ADP with errors in Health and Welfare portal and in Enterprise
  • Assists with ACA reporting and 1095-C errors
  • Conducts Benefits Orientation for all LIC and Salesforce new hires
  • Status of leaves in Cigna Portal
  • Multiple Weekly and monthly reports
  • Assist with planning of onsite education for employees (Fidelity, Liberty Mutual, Social Security Administration, etc.)
  • Assists with COBRA administration
  • Makes updates to smpbenefits.com and makes sure material posted is accurate and up to date
  • Benefits Highlights emails (semi-monthly)
  • Employee announcements regarding benefits
  • Assists with administering Paid Family Leave (PFL) administration
  • Assists with administering SMP Paid Family Time Off Policy
  • Assists Senior Benefits Coordinator with International Benefits

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years external/consultant or 1 year in-house of Benefits experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Experience assisting a department or supervisor with various tasks and projects
  • Comfortable working with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Organization skills including time management and the ability to balance conflicting priorities in order to ensure completion of essential projects and task.
  • The ability to thoughtfully communicate with employees, HR Associates, and vendors through a variety of different methods in a way that is most beneficial to our audience.
  • Ability to provide exceptional, timely, and professional customer service to employees and their dependents


PREFERRED: KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES / EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION

  • Experience working with employee benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, COBRA, Ancillary, FMLA, Spending Accounts, and 401k/ESOP
  • Familiarity with ADP Health & Welfare
  • Experience being trusted with and responsible for protecting confidential information
