Job Description and Responsibilities:

SUMMARY: The position is a service function that will assist with Research and Development, testing and sustaining engineering functions. Will assist in coordinating activities on assigned projects with departmental personnel and Manager. Must be capable of working with changing priorities while maintaining documentation in accordance with ISO 9001 and TS-19649



  • Evaluate, test and complete reports on Individual Labor/Warranty claims for all products manufactured and distributed by SMP Power Train cooling.
  • Catalogue and assist in maintaining inventory of OEM, competitive and company's products.
  • Conduct performance test, assist with development of engineering and customer prototypes.
  • Provide recommendations for continuous improvements and cost reductions.
  • Communicate effectively with inter and intra-departmental personnel.
  • Participate in Team efforts for new projects and assist with product development.



Job Requirements

Job Requirements:


  • Must have a minimum of High School Diploma and preferably an AA degree or college level course in Mathematics and a minimum of 2 years experience in an Engineering or QA environment. Must be able to read drawings, understand basic mechanical and electrical theory, data acquisition and control schematics,
  • Able to effectively communicate through verbal and written correspondence.
  • Must be familiar with testing instrumentation for computer assisted data acquisition.
  • Install and test components for in-house testing and on vehicles for testing.
  • Must be mechanically inclined to assemble and disassemble test set-ups and products under development. Requires both hands on work and computer skills to efficiently test and validate products.
  • Knowledgeable of the use of computers for Data Acquisition, Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word and ACCESS DB, developing documents for cataloging tests results, inventory of OEM and in-house manufactured samples. Familiar with metrology and gauging equipment.
  • Must be self-motivated and operate effectively without continuous supervision.
  • Hours will be 7:30 am – 4:00 pm; flexible work schedule may be required. 



  • Position Requires: Power tools, fork lift (preferred), personal computer, working in environment with high sound levels on an extended basis.
  • Operation of Machinery: Test and measurement equipment.
  • Environment: High temperature and sound levels > 85 dBA
  • Chemicals: Cleaning solvents, metal cutting fluids, paints and oils.
