Job Description

Position Location:

Within greater Springfield, MO area

 

Position Scope:

Oversee the day to day sales management of the company’s largest account and provide feedback to the executive team for tactical decisions and growth strategies with an understanding of corporate and long-term customer and SMP vision

Other Specific Duties:

  • Announce new items and categories to product managers
  • Managing product inquiries, resolve quality issues and labor claims in a timely manner based on customers’ expectations
  • Manage planning, market placement and monitor various product trials
  • Work closely with SMP Payables to help resolve any payment, credit or shortage issues.  
  • Assist field sales team in key sales support activities, and lead headquarters management for select part types and markets
  • Work closely with LIC and LEW product management, marketing, category management and data/catalog in order to manage and grow customer business 
  • Work closely with pricing departments in LIC and LEW on various price changes and RFQs for new business
  • Work with Division Finance teams to provide reports on client account status and budgeting
  • Manage returns both warranty and obsolete items to make sure that are within budget
  • Collaborate with SMP and customer supply chain personnel on any changes in customer purchasing to insure performance remains consistent 
  • Work closely with the SMP dedicated National Sales Manager for defining specific market areas for improved penetration, programs, sales blitz’s, commercial sales and sales administration activities
  • Coordinate and attend the customers annual Trade Shows and events

 

 

Job Requirements

Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

  • High school graduate with a college degree preferred but not essential
  • Candidate must have performed successfully in a position equivalent or similar to a Territory Sales or Category Manager
  • Strong product and technical knowledge and experience selling the Engine Management and Temperature Control categories
  • Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to incur overnight travel, including air travel as necessary
  • Strong Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are a must
  • Candidate should be strategic and exhibit a high degree of detail with excellent communication skills in verbal and written presentations
  • Strong relationship building skills at all levels including senior executives at O’Reilly Auto Parts
  • Must exhibit strong entrepreneurial skills with focus on continued growth and excellent customer satisfaction
  • Strong negotiation skills are necessary for discussion of short and long term purchase agreements, contracts, pricing and annual marketing funding requests
