Job Description

The role of a Senior Category Manager is to support the full portfolio product categories and collaborate with major trading partners in order to enhance the categories industry wide. As a Senior Category Manager, this individual is also expected to be able to lead multi-functional teams and provide strategic direction on major customer projects. In addition to becoming an expert on the account requirements and category management needs, this role requires handling a variety of day to day account requests in addition to:

  • Conducting Internal Business Reviews for Opportunities and Optimization
  • Analyzing Customer / Company Business and Conducting Regular Category Reviews including
    • Regular Business Insight Delivery
    • Inventory Optimization
    • Margin Opportunities
    • Product Lifecycle Analysis
    • Assortment Review and Recommendations
    • Brand Analysis and Recommendations
    • Customer Category Strategy and Road Map Development
  • Collaborating on inventory requirements for sales planning
  • Working with sales on item transition process across all relative departments and assisting in defining initial order expectations  for new business
  • Working closely with customer account manager and cross functionally on major customer projects
  •  Taking the lead on customer data collection and updates for key reporting and dashboard communications

This individual will also be required to:

  • Multi-task and direct multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines
  • Lead cross-functional teams
  • Create and improve workflows for improved efficiencies
  • Provide strategic recommendations on key customer initiatives
  • Present findings to internal and external groups
  • Collaborate with sales, product development, planning, DC, and packaging team on customer initiatives
  • Execute and follow up with data, planning, DC, and sales teams in order to execute new items and programs
  • Create and Deliver Category and Customer Presentations – Internal and External
  • Process, gather, and analyze customer data to develop score cards, dashboards, and reporting for internal and external purposes
  • Travel: Up to 25%

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 to 8 years' experience in Category Management or related field
  • Experience working for or with Retail companies a plus
  • Excellent leadership, analysis, organizational, and planning skills a must
  • Must be proactive, accountable, take initiative, and work well with others
  • Strong problem solving and written and verbal communication skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word and Excel
  • SQL proficiency a plus
