If you’re looking to start your career with a company that grows their managers and leaders from within the organization, then the Standard Motor Products, Inc., Sales Trainee Program is for you. After years of company loyalty, many of our current sales members are nearing retirement. We are looking for recent graduates with a passion for sales and the automotive industry to fill their roles and continue to grow the legacy that has been established with their accounts over the years.

This full-time position offers a competitive starting salary for an entry level role. On top of that salary, the living accommodations during your time in the program will be covered including: rent, hotels, transportation, airfare, utilities, and travel-related meals.

Upon completion of the program, candidates will be placed into a Key Account Sales Manager or Territory Sales Manager opening, location will be determined on an ad hoc basis. You must be flexible with location placement in order to be considered for this job as we have locations across the U.S. Once given the sales role, an increased base salary will be offered along with a commission program based on sales success. You will also be provided a company car upon location designation.

As a Sales Trainee, you’ll start learning our business from day one while based out of our Lewisville and Irving, TX, locations. You will spend approximately one month in Texas and one month at our corporate headquarters in Long Island City, NY. Depending on the time of year and availability, the location order may be adjusted. In our structured training program, you will master the knowledge and skills you need to eventually run your own territory and cultivate new business. Along with formal training on our products, you will have the opportunity to learn about the other aspects of our business. By working alongside a variety of departments such as marketing and engineering, you will have a full cycle understanding of our business when it comes to our products, while gaining valuable contacts along the way.

In our hands-on learning environment, you will receive the guidance, mentoring, and support you need to be successful. You will also get out into the community at each location, shadowing local sales representatives and establishing relationships essential to building your own territory.

We’ll teach you how to excel at customer service, sales, and the automotive aftermarket industry. And you’ll learn what it means to always put our customers first. Ours is a culture of friendly competition, which is critical to growing our business — and your success.
