Job Description

Established in 1919 and traded on the NYSE, Standard Motor Products, Inc., (SMP) is a leading independent manufacturer, distributor, and marketer of replacement parts for motor vehicles in the automotive aftermarket industry, with a complementary focus on heavy duty, industrial equipment and original equipment markets.

We are organized into two operating segments. Each segment focuses on providing our customers with full-line coverage of its products, and a full suite of complementary services that are tailored to our customers’ business needs and driving end-user demand for our products. Our Engine Management Segment manufactures and distributes a full line of critical components for the ignition, electrical, emissions, fuel and safety-related systems of motor vehicles. Our Temperature Control Segment manufactures and distributes a full line of critical components for the temperature control (air conditioning and heating) systems, engine cooling systems, power window accessories and windshield washer systems of motor vehicles.

We sell our products primarily to automotive aftermarket retailers, program distribution groups, warehouse distributors, original equipment manufacturers and original equipment service part operations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, Mexico and other Latin American countries.

We employ approximately 4,300 people in North America, Europe and Asia.

Job Summary

1. Develop effective pricing evaluations for the company’s products.

2. Develop effective pricing storing and maintenance procedures.

3. Develop effective pricing acquisition procedures.

Responsibilities

Administrative:

  • Maintain company data in appropriate systems

  • Ensure tables are properly maintained.

  • Adhere to company SOX requirements.

  • Maintain pricing databases and ensures quality data.

    Pricing:

  • Maintains intercompany and customer pricing.

  • Understands product cost structures and profitability.

  • Obtains required information to assure proper review of relevant facts pertaining to the

    proposed pricing opportunity.

  • Maintains pricing activity reports to assure on-going management visibility of pricing

    activities.

  • Maintain current pricing and data following SOX procedures established by SMP Audit.

  • Establishes proper procedures to extract market retails for competitor and SMP retail

    price data and OE price data.

    Analytical:

  • Implement strategic company pricing practices.

  • Perform routine audits to ensure quality delivery of pricing information.

  • Prepare documentation and provide analysis support for pricing strategies.

  • Provides measurement and assessment of relative pricing to various markets

  • Perform analysis of competitor pricing changes at retail and customer acquisition costs

  • Delivery other analysis as needed by Marketing, Sales, or Finance

    Data:

  • Improve systems to enable faster communication of data to meet customer requirements.

  • Perform routine audits on system data to assure quality of information.

  • Deliver quality and timely pricing data as required by customers.

    Requirements

  • A college degree in accounting or marketing is required. Higher level education of either

    MBA or Accounting background a big plus.

  • Experience in automotive pricing environment

  • Must be proficient with MS Office Suite of products

  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g. Pivot Tables, data lookup functions, formulas, statistical

    functions)

  • Advanced database skills

  • Knowledge of JDE preferred

    The estimated salary range for this position is $128,000-$168,000

The actual salary offered will be based on a wide range of factors, including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and where applicable, licensure or certification obtained.
