Job
Description – Mechanical Designer
- Prepare
comprehensive electro-mechanical designs with 3D modelling using
SolidWorks that includes top assembly, sub-assemblies and components for existing
or new products.
- Prior experience with metal
forming, casting, machining, injection molding and PCB layout and their
application in designs is preferred.
- Conduct tolerance stack up on
assemblies.
- Alter
and modify design to meet requirements to improve reliability, departmental
continuous improvement and product cost savings.
- Provide
documentation for changes or improvements to existing designs. Requires initiating,
preparation and submittal of Engineering Change Notices.
- Maintain
masters and uncontrolled copies of documents and Engineering databases.
- Maintain
technical competence through self-study and emerging technologies.
- Able
to work independently based on directed assignments.
- Communicate
effectively with inter and departmental personnel, customers and vendors.
- Participate
in Team efforts for new projects.
- Document
activities on projects on a timely basis.
Requirements
- AS degree in Engineering or applied
science.
- Detailing of drawings with GD&T
to ANSI Y14.5M, latest edition.
- Hands-on experience with computer-aided
design (CAD) – preferably using SolidWorks and MS office suite including
ACCESS. Knowledgeable of other CAD
and commercially available office software. PCB board and cable layout
design is a Plus.
- Proven working experience in an engineering
environment with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Works well under pressure, changing
priorities and multiple projects.
- Familiar with metrology and gauging
equipment.
- Must be willing to operate and
support a team environment.
- Flexible work schedules may be
required.
