Job Description:

The Material Planner/Buyer position reports to the Materials Manager and is responsible for ensuring the availability of all necessary materials required to support the production schedule including quoting, sourcing recommendations and releasing PO’s.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with assigned suppliers in a global environment.
  • Prepare Request for Quotes (RFQ’s), secure and analyze quotations to make sourcing recommendations.
  • Actively negotiate pricing, terms and delivery with suppliers to provide the most cost effective solution for the company.
  • Participate in supplier selection, reviews, scorecards and corrective actions.
  • Review MRP messages and generate PO’s to support production requirements in a timely manner, working with suppliers to expedite as required.
  • Proactively identify, resolve and communicate potential supply concerns with supplier(s) and Unimotor personnel as required.
  • Support the ECR process and co-ordinate changes with impacted suppliers and Engineering.
  • Setup and maintain item master for responsible components ensuring accurate data on an ongoing basis.
  • Provides backup to the Customer Service position.
  • Administers the cycle count program
  • Directs the daily activities of the cycle counter
  • Creates the cycle count schedule based on the required parameters and ensures adherence to it
  • Troubleshoots inventory discrepancies to determine root cause and corrective actions, processes all inventory adjustments in JDE

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written at all levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience with using Material Requirements Planning
  • Solid working knowledge of MS applications, in particular: Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Preference given to candidates enrolled in a professional accreditation program with an industry related body.
