Description of duties

Standard Motor Products, Inc. (SMP), a tier 1 manufacturer and distributor of products to the automotive aftermarket, is seeking a talented individual to work as an IT Jr. Network Administrator at our Engine Management facility in Lewisville, Texas. This position is responsible for providing Helpdesk support our organization and cybersecurity across various network based systems.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provides 1st level incident and problem management support activities leveraging ticketing system. Investigates, diagnoses, and proactively takes prescribed actions on all networking events, alarms, and incidents
  • Supports business and technical requirements, including networking, server hardware/software maintenance, E-mail, and policies and procedures development.
  • Oversees workstation life cycles, installs computers, printers, wireless or other network connections and applications.
  • Works on locating and removing computer security threats and any malicious applications from company systems.
  • Provides end-user systems and software support, provides technical assistance, and resolves issues for all operating systems in-person and/or remote over the phone, or through remote access.
  • Completes regular backups and performs data recovery to ensure data availability.

Job Requirements

Requirements / Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems preferred, experience will be taken into consideration if no degree.
  • Cybersecurity Certification or experience a plus

Experience:

  • 2+ years of IT Helpdesk and/or systems administrator capacity
  • Must have working understanding and knowledge of Microsoft Windows environments, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP-IP, server/PC hardware, backups, user and group management, and general network/information security.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Review/research hardware related items for purchase and installation.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written to interact with end users, vendors, customers.
  • Strong MS Office skills, good judgment and decision making; ability to multi-task.
