About SMP: 

We are a leading supplier of automotive parts and have been in business over 100 years and have received numerous supplier of the year awards from our customers. Our 360k square foot distribution center, based in Edwardsville, Kansas, specializes in “Just in Time” distribution of replacement parts for the automotive industry. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as our Human Resources Manager at this facility. Attractive location in the greater Kansas City area.


The Human Resources Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing and administration of numerous operational human resources related activities for the Kansas Distribution Center including:

  •  Worker’s Compensation 
  •  Benefits Administration
  •  Payroll processing
  •  Staffing & On-boarding 
  •  Wellness Program
  •  HR policy guidance and interpretation
  •  Administration of bid, grievance, and related processes as defined by collective bargaining
  •  Implementation of engagement survey action plans
  •  Attendance, disability, and leave administration

Job Requirements


  • 10+ year’s progressive HR experience PHR, SPHR certification preferred,
  • Degreed in Human Resources or related field
  • Experience working in an HR position in a unionized facility 
  • Knowledge of all applicable state and federal employment laws 
  • Experience in employee relations, ability to work with all levels of employees
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Experience with HRIS systems (Ceridian)
