Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable CNC Machinist/Programmer to join our Engineering team.

Summary:

Work from solid models, prints, sketches, work orders, and verbal instructions to manufacture complex parts for assembly and test tools using CNC milling machines as well as conventional machine tools.  Work with the engineers to improve designs for machinability.

 

CNC Machinist Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read/understand blueprints or verbal instruction to fabricate specialized tooling, jigs, gages and fixtures for the production floor.
  • Can follow engineering plans and work to a high degree of accuracy. Tolerances are typically +/- 0.005, On occasion, as tight as +/- 0.001
  • Assures that tooling fabricated meets the specifications and tolerances of the blueprint.
  • Program 3-Axis CNC milling machines using CamWorks (Solidworks CAM), G & M code, and conversational programming as needed.
  • Perform secondary machining operations using manually controlled machine tools such as the lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, bench grinder, horizontal/vertical band saws and drill press. Along with power tools (die grinder, rotary tool, etc.) and conventional hand tools.
  • Understands the operation of all types of machine shop setups, i.e. rotary table, indexing head, boring head, sine bar, 4 jaw chuck, face plate, steady rest, follower rest, etc.
  • Use of precision measuring and gaging tools to perform required inspection before, during and after machining. Shadowgraph, micrometers (inside, outside & depth), indicators, height gages, pin gages, ring gages, bore gages.
  • Knowledge of heat treating.
  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
  • Keep work area and machinery clean and in an orderly condition. Lubricate machinery and tooling as required. Assist with machine overhaul when requested.
  • Follow safety standards at all times

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines
  • Minimum 2 years of experience programming CNC milling machines
  • Experience with CAM software (CamWorks / SolidWorks CAM is preferred)
